My mom, sister and I were running errands together one day when a man quickly approached my mother and I.  He came from out of nowhere and I didn't want to give him the chance to get any closer to us.  Without even thinking about it, I said exactly what we had practiced in FAST Defense.  He turned around and walked away in the opposite direction.  At first I didn't realize what I had done - I was so relieved he had left.  After a few minutes passed my mother said, "You just did what we learned in that class."  I hadn't even realized it, but it was EXACTLY what we had practiced in FAST Defense.  I had been in situations like this before, but never seemed to say the right thing or wished I had reacted differently.  It's great to have simple and concise statements that deter a situation from becoming dangerous.   Thank you FAST Defense!
