5 Tips for Keeping Your Home Safe During Summer Vacation

As you make plans for vacation this summer, make sure that you are making plans to keep things safe at home while you are gone. Here are a few pointers to help you keep “Peace of Mind” while you are gone.

1. Ensure that all windows and doors are locked before you leave.

These things can be overlooked when we get tunnel vision for vacation. These things make it easy for a thief to access your home if forgotten.

2. Use a timer on some light that comes on and goes off at certain times.

Make it look like someone is home. Remember that an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

3. Move your car in different locations.

Maybe you have a trusted neighbor or friend that can move your car to make it look like your still around. You may even ask them to park in your driveway while you are away.

4. Have someone do house checks.

Signal 88 Security can do this for you with a randomness that supports that “prevention” idea. Let’s keep the potential criminal guessing about your property and move on to a softer target. However you chose to do house checks, make it random.

5. Don’t forget all of the random things.

Ensure that the water is turned off everywhere in the house, stove and oven are off, AC is adjusted to save money, make sure all of the toys are gathered up out of the yard, a trustworthy neighbor has a key in case something goes wrong and Fido has been boarded or going with you.

We would love to be your partner for security and wish you a summer full of positive memories with your family and friends. Please give us a call if we can help at 915-996-0313.
